Сastle Châteauneuf - pearl in burgundy crown
Only 43 kilometres away from Dijon, capital of Burgundy, in nice village there is a classical castle with rich history. The name of this castle is the same as close village has - Châteauneuf. The castle was built by Jean de Chaudenay in XI century. One of the last castle s owner was buried here.

Castle stays on the rock among fields, that's why it is visible for many kilometres around

At the beginig castle consisted of only one tower, but from time to time castle was growing. In XV century Jean de Chaudenay had given castle Châteauneuf to his advisor Philippe Pot, who rebuilted it and castle looked like as we can see in ourdays. In 1936 the last owner presented it to the state

White colour shows parts of the castle which was built in XV century

Family coat of arms of the castle's owners

The main part of the castle where you can find interiors are of different era

There are original tiles on the floor

The grave of Philippe Pot is in the chapel

As the castle owned by state (by Burgundy, if to be precise) it works as an ordinary museum - all year round except main holidays and mondays. In winter time, from october to may, it is open from 10 till 12.30 and from 14.00 till 17.45, and booking office is closing 30 and 45 minutes before. In summer time the castle is open from 10 till 12.30 and from 14.00 till 18.45. The price of full ticket is 5 euros.

That's a pity but this large building in inside yard had lost its interiors but it still had remains of fireplace, windows and partitions

View on the drawbridge and collapsed tower

Mulberry

Visitors of the castle can walk around the village - one of the most beautiful in France, but I will write about it separately.

Another castle close to Châteauneuf is Comarin
I want to thank for help in my visit of this place сhargée de communication, relations clients et réseaux sociaux of
